Snowboarding trick terms
Air to Fakie: is where you mae a -degree turn in the air followed by a switch, it’s a good chance to practice your movements in the air.
Alley Oops: making a 180 degrees as you go uphill in the halfpipe, not for beginners!
Backside 720: an advanced trick where you make two full spins in the air coming out of a halfpipe.
Butters: when you’ve figured out your turns 100% this is a movement to make a series of full turns, and takes a bit of confidence.
Five-O Grinds: In this trick, you need to make a Wheelie instead of just grinding with your board flat on the rail, but you need to know how to do a wheelie first.
Nose and Tail Rolls: when you change your stance by making a 180 degree turn by using either your board’s nose or tail to spin the board around.
Ollies: a basic and popular maneuver in aerial tricks used to jump over small things.
Rock-n-Roll Grinds: another grind where you keep the board parallel to the rail, but it requires perfect approach, balance, and timing.
Snowboarding in Halfpipe: performed in a half-pipe, snowboarders to perform jumps and other tricks as they move from one wall to the other, but it’s not for beginners.
Wheelies: taking it’s name from the motorcycle trick this one is where you ride just one end of your board while lifting the nose of the board slightly.
50/50 Grinds: one of many tricks that don’t occur on snow, such as rails and boxes, where you ‘grind’ over them.
